Higher Education Press,the largest and most prominent publisher
of educational books in China, was founded in 1954. Dating back
to early stage, its major focus was on publishing university textbooks
on Science and Engineering. During the past two decades, its publication
scope has been significantly broadened. Besides college textbooks,
it publishes all-level books concerning postgraduate educati on,
vocational education, continuing education, and online education,
etc. Its publications range from science, engineering, humanity
and arts, social sciences, education to economics and management.
Never confining itself to paper printing, Higher Education Press
also develops a great amount of audio-visual, electronic products
and on-line teaching materials today.
In the last 49 years, Higher Education Press enjoyed the total
publication titles of over 30000. The current annual number is around
4500, among which about 1500 are new titles and the sum of copies
amounts to 65 million yearly. Higher Education Press earns its reputation
for high quality and reasonable prices in China. More than 500 of
its textbooks have been awarded the State-level Book Prize and the
National excellent Textbook Prize, and over 50 electronic and audio-visual
products have been ranked high in all kinds of state-level prizes
as well. In 1998, Higher Education Press was successfully nominated
as National Outstanding Publisher.
Higher Education Press attaches great importance to international
exchanges and cooperation. It has extensive cooperation and t rade
relations with more than twenty countries worldwide, including the
United Kingdom, the United States, Germany, Japan, etc., and regions
like Hong Kong and Taiwan. In recent years, with regard to the exchanges
of excellent textbooks, it has established positive and productive
cooperation with numbers of other world-known publishers.
